Liriope Muscari Big Blue
Everyone recognises Liriope Muscari but few people know its name. You’re going to rock the pub quiz now!
Liriope Muscari Big Blue is a grass-like perennial with tidy clumps of deep glossy green, strap-like foliage. This foliage is pretty enough in its own right but just wait for the flower spikes! They shoot through in rich purple-blue upright arrows during late spring to early summer and last literally ages before turning into small black berries.
Muscari is the perfect edging plant in a border that gets some shade and looks stunning mass planted under taller trees. If you’ve got a few spare pots Big Blue will come back each year and fill them to the brim.
Low care, pretty foliage and a tough nature mean everyone should have Liriope. Best of all they come in different colours – why not team Big Blue with Munroe White and Samantha for a riot of colour?
