Meet Gardenia Augusta, Professor Pucci. He’s a medium growing gardenia with large double creamy-white flowers in the spring months.  

If you want a mid-sized gardenia with warm-toned blooms the Professor will suit you well and keep you smiling with non-stop summer scent.

This is a good choice for a flowering hedge as he reaches 1.5 metres tall and spreads across the same space.

He also creates a stunning feature in the middle of your lawn or tucked in the border. Pots are a good home too if you water them well.

This beauty loves sun to filtered sun and slightly acid soils, but if the leaves start to yellow it means the soil is deficient in minerals that gardenias need.

It’s a simple fix of applying Epsom salts or chelated iron onto the roots. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions and those deep glossy green tones will soon return.

• What to use me for: I’m a feature plant in the garden and make an attractive flowering hedge. Wildlife adores my nectar and I’m evergreen for winter interest.
• I grow to: I’ll reach 1.5 metres tall and 1.4 metres wide.
• Where to place me:  I like full sun to part shade.
• How far to space me:  If you’re making a hedge I need 90cms metres otherwise 1.8 metres, please.
• Soil Conditions:  I like moist, but well-drained slightly acidic soil.
